We are happy to announce a partnership between echopoetico and Encouragement Unlimited, Inc. to spread a message of hope and possibilities through the power of the spoken word and great music. We have big plans for the future and look forward to sharing our creations with everyone!
Encouragement Unlimited, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded by John Leonard Harris in 2002 as a public service to provide motivational, educational and need-based services for individuals from all walks of life. The organization seeks to make a difference in the ways that allow people to know that they need not struggle alone.
“Pedrito el Chicken” Chiquito is here! This is a bilingual children’s story about a lost little chick and his adventure. It’s a fun and happy good time in English and Spanish! We hope that you and the children in your life have a wonderful time reading it. There are currently only 150 copies left of this first edition run. We are happy to send you a signed copy for your online order. We can only offer this for a limited time because our fingers are cramping up! echopoetico had a wonderful time working with the fantastic students and faculty at Sheridan Elementary. They kids put on an amazing show, “Pedrito el Chicken Chiquito”. 20 drummers, 20 dancers, and 20 actors put on three presentations of the play. The audiences showed their appreciation with laughter, applause and then joined in with singing and dancing. At one point their was a HUGE conga line made up of the entire cast and over half of the audience. It was truly a beautiful and amazing experience!
Just had a great time at Bryan Learning Center in Lincoln, NE. Oscar and I performend a few pieces and talked about poetry and music with students. Cool crowd out there. Thanks to Mike and Sara for having us.
Monday Jan 24th, at 7pm, Oscar and I are going to be at Crescent Moon Coffee – 140 N. 8th Street #10 Lower Level, Lincoln, NE). Should be a nice time with poetry, music, and warm drinks.
Oscar asked me to join him at the First Plymouth Church in Lincoln, NE Wednesday night. He gave a presentation on the Mexican holiday “Day of the Dead”. We performed a couple of pieces together, including “Bones in the Back Seat” and Oscar did some solo instrumentals. The program was really well received and the audience was a great group of people. They all helped and participated in honoring the father of one of the members of their church who had passed away by building and visiting an altar that was created right there during the presentation.
Looking at the pictures on the altar of the gentleman made me think of my grandfathers and it prompted me to tell a story to the man’s daughter. As we laughed together, I felt my eyes water up just a bit and I placed my hand upon her shoulder and said, “Now this is what it’s all about” (Day of the Dead).
This is really one of the most amazing churches I have ever visited. You can feel the peace and spirituality of the place, it just permeates with good vibes. Stop by and check out the architecture. The environment and people are very kind and welcoming.
